I don't think it's exported frequently - any larger fish coming out of the Congo River is probably eaten.

Nice pic and ed. I've never even known about this fish existence. Wow. What a chrisichthys.

Are these endangered?

AFAIK this species is not imported (unless by accident as one offs/bycatch). It is one of the most commonly occuring claroteids and reaches 1.5 metres in size - not particularly big in length but boy is it bulky!

Thx for the info guyss , anyone seen one in the aquarium? Would like to see what a juvenile looks like just in case i am fortunate enough to see one.

I've seen (in my time) maybe 8 or 9 small 'chrysichthys' species which i couldn't identify, (as they are so similar when juvenille)but i doubt if any were this one. It is one of those fish that is definately an 'aquired taste' so i haven't seen any in public aquaria either.
