Synodontis huddle/orgy?.

Post by Maccus »

What does it means when a group of synodontis are piled up together?. I once found my group of six piled up behind a certain flower pot. They were not just laying there in a pile either, they were wiggling around. Couldn't tell which head and tail went with which fish.
I've never seen them do that before.

Brings many questions to mind:
What kind of Synodontis?
How old are they?
Do they have enough cover/caves to make them feel comfortable?
Are there other tank mates that would push them into a corner?

I agree, it sounds like there aren't any other hiding spots, or aren't any other appropriate hiding spots.

There are other hiding places for them.
This one pot that they were all behind on that day does seem like a favorite spot for some reason.
Usually there are two of them behind it. The second favorite place is a broken flower pot laying near the center, sometimes I've seen up to four in there.
