One of the very very few non Indian catfish I have at the moment (and haven't had the heart to give away at all ). Been with me since end 2005 or 2006, don't remember clearly. An absolute delight for any catfish enthusiast - extremely hardy, eats just about anything and looks gorgeous. There was another specimen bought along with this but it died a few years ago. They were 100 INR each back then IFIRC.

Earlier, both specimens used to turn almost yellow (the dark patches used to disappear) towards November, this has stopped since the second specimen died. The second catfish I kept was Mystus gulio I managed to catch locally.

Major: Now what's this... stone, stone, stone, (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?
Sergeant: Not stone, sir.
Major: They're very good scissors!!

I think we have the same catfish. It looks the same but I don't know if there are other variants.
