What is happening in Brasil

There have been rumors about suspending of the fish export out from Brasil for some time and that L46 should be extinct from the wild.
Some part of the rumors is true but most of them not, when rumors are spread around the world it always make it bigger then it is so instead of just listening I have put some questions to people that can confirm or deny them directly.
I hope this will solve your thoughts so we can have an end of all rumors.

Dear Janne:

What you said are true. Zebra is temporarily prohibited for trading, pending a study and evaluation. Brazilian ichthyologists are currently revising a new list of permitted species with IBAMA. The new list probably will include 600-700 freshwater fishes that can be exported. It is an impossible task to inspect fishes.

Some Manaus exporters had been put in jail by federal Police (equivalent to FBI) for 2-3 days for cheating on fishes expoeted (outside label not equal to boxed species) and quantity (label 400 but 1,200 fishes inside).

Unfortunately, traders are incline to cheat, I have heard some of the big names in the trade were in trouble like, ****, now some Manaus exporters.

that's it, only 700 species available for emport. any ideas on wich ones?

If you consider that this new list of fishes contains almost 700 species and it was just above 400 species before that was permitted for export from Brasil...so will you see more species at retailers next year. The list is not finished yet and some of these species will still have a qouta (maximum/year).
