Suddenly active banjo catfish? Should I worry?

I have had a banjo catfish for the past 4 1/2 years (last 3 1/2 in a 120 gallon). It has always buried itself in the subtrate rarley comming out. Sometimes we don't even see it for a month or two. Today however I noticed it swimming all around the tank from the bottom to the top. The banjo looks ...

i studied the defective heater and these have got to be some of the poorest sealed submersibles on the market. just pulled lightly and the glass tube came off! it appears to just be a simple compression seal with the rubber top going over the glass tube. the insides also smell like overheated ...

cat-e-log list L91 as Leporacanthicus triactis not a pseudacanthicus.

i wouldn't be suprised on L91 eating shrimps as i've seen them eat snails and have heard of them eating ghost shrimp.

my group of L91 show little to no agression towards other fish. they were in quarentine with two tiny L128 and ...

is the fiber glass absolutly essential? i hate that stuff after using it to build an electric race car body.

i've had bad experiences with submersible pumps so i am biased towards external (particularly cs velocity pumps). im my experience most submersible pump are terribbly noisy/"vibraty" once you get over 250-300 gph. submersible pumps do however eliminate the siphon/tank drill and in that way make ...

i mentioned external pumps because many of them can pump more water and to higher hights that powerheads and submersible pumps. i prefer the cs velocity pumps (now labeled as blueline or some thing like that after cs went belly up). the sump wouldn'd need to be drilled. just use a siphon/u-tube to ...

thanks for the info. i got a reply from a suplier of liver gammarus and they said they culture theirs in tanks indoors and not outside in ponds. i think i'll order some and starta culture and then trying the subsequent generation of gammarus to try to prevent parasites.

i think your best bet would be to google fish diseases and look for a site with good description and advice.

example

http://www.versaquatics.com/disease_diagnosis.htm

be careful not to over or needlessly (innefective/the wron medicine) medicate
